This was a 2 day shoot with a few different deliverables to knock out. The first day we focused on Front of House shots with an emphasis on the new Wine Bar and the temperature-controlled, pressurized Cruvinet system. Which allows for "higher-caliber" wines to be served by the glass. So it was important to visually highlight this within the first few shots of the commercial. We only had half a day with our talent (bartender and patrons) so I created a shot list of must haves in order to tell the story. This meant mainly tight shots as the wider we went the more time we needed to spend lighting.
Day two was spent Back of House. We killed all the overhead fluorescents and bounced an Aputure 1200D into the ceiling to give us our base illumination and directionality. For a more pronounced key light, Michael would handhold an Amaran Light Mat 90° off camera. For a backlight, Michael was holding a 4ft Nanlite PavoTube just out of frame.
