Ashton J. Harrewyn is a cinematographer working across feature films, episodic television, commercials, and music videos. He began his career in the lighting department on major motion pictures, including The Fighter, The Social Network, Labor Day, Zookeeper, and Grown Ups 2, where he honed his technical expertise and deep understanding of cinematic storytelling.
His award-winning feature work has screened at international festivals, including Roads to Olympia, now streaming on HBO Latin America. Most recently, Ashton lensed a movie in Istanbul, Turkey, featuring renowned pop star Edis Görgülü.
Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and now based in Burlington, Vermont, Ashton’s eye for craft was shaped by his upbringing—raised by a Belgian pastry chef and a South African interior designer, he developed an early appreciation for precision, artistry, and the details that make something truly exceptional. His work has taken him across the globe, from Jordan and Brazil to South Africa, Switzerland, and throughout the U.S.
Ashton is always seeking compelling collaborations, drawn to stories with bold visual ambition and a distinctive point of view. He is a proud member of the International Cinematographers Guild, Local 600
